Mollie Stone's picks up where failed Whole Foods left off for Russian Hill site
Mollie Stone’s Market will attempt to open a grocery store in Russian Hill on a site where Whole Foods Market failed in nearly four years of efforts to do so.
The Mill Valley-based grocer signed a lease for the site at 1600 Jackson St. late last month. It will soon begin filing proposals and permit requests, aiming for a fall 2020 opening.
The 1600 Jackson St. storefront has been collecting dust since late 2014 when former tenant Lombardi Sports closed its doors for good. Village Properties owns the building.
